Wanchai Cha Chan Teng, IMM - SG, 23rd May 2009
We have not been patronise Wanchai Cafe since 2006, and wonder if they still maintain the same standard as before :)
anyway, singapore Cha Chan Tengs will never come close to those in Hong Kong, as most dishes have mutate into local taste...
The pictures on the banner or poster might look interesting, but my advise to everyone is that just dont put so much high hope on it...
This place is forever crowded with people anytime and any day... local people here just like to eat, whether it is good or bad, or curious about this cafe... (well.. have u heard of curiousity kill the cat? hahaha)
decor never change since then, still the same...
I ordered a "hongkong style" baked rice... looks good isnt it
, well ... it has salmon on it, pork chop, mussel, butter rice.. now the best part is.. the rice is really soggy and it taste like rice cake, pork chop are salty, so if you are worrying about your blood pressure, eat little on the chop..mussel is ok... as for the cheese on top... well... all cheese taste the same.. as for my grading to this dish... not worth ordering it...
this seaweed soup comes along with the baked rice.. soup are tasteless and oily, that is why it is son shining on top of it... if you are a weight cautious person,,, do stay away from this...hahaha not forgetting the cheezy baked rice too contribute some carbo, calories to it too...
my wife ordered her favourite dumpling soup noodle.. she always commenting that this is the so called one of the best in town 3 years ago... and this time, let see if it still meet her standard...
unfortunately... it fail..... noodle are tasteless... dumplings are even worse, as the meat in taste like paste, it doesnt has that "boing boing" sensation anymore.. soup taste like MSG now... so avoid drink the soup if you want to keep your hair.. grading for this... no comment...
total bill is S$16.30, not really happy with this pricing, as we know we can have better with this costing...
but if you want to try, you can always drop by IMM located at Jurong East, 3rd level, you really cant miss the place...
