Hua Ting - SG, 20th April 2008
Victoria has suggested Hua Ting for our big group gathering, but didnt really have that chance at all.. so me and wife decided to come here on our own to try out this place..
Orchard Hotel is located almost at the beginning of Orchard Road, but it is a also a good place for people who can do some branded shopping after a nice meal, and maybe take a slow walk towards the heart of the city...
Hotel has a very cosy ambience, and with its escalator up to level 2, you can already feel the serenity of it.
if you walks towards the entrance you will be greeted by a little of "zen" decor
and with a big bowl of flowers greeting you
and a Feng shui elements which bring wealth to the restaurant
Inside decor is very unique and grand.. and it makes you feel that their food must be great, and you will know it later...
With a perfect table setting, you really cant wait to order something immediately
Menu is big and with its red coloured on the cover, it makes you feel auspicious that day
Lets try the braised peanut, very soft, and not salty,, this is good.
Phoenix Claw is one of my favourite, with the fat running inside your mouth, it is really fun eating it, not spicy at all.. it is a thumbs up for me
Yam Dumpling is one of my wife's favorite... brown crispy skin on the outside and meaty on the inside... meat are juicy and tender.. great stuff
Scallop Dumpling is rather unique here, just want to let u know, eat it while it is hot, be careful of its soup in the dumpling
nothing fantastic on the Char Siew Cheong Fan, the skin roll are thick, and it really makes you feel full very fast
Wanton Noodle is the best so far, rich in everything :P.. rich in gravy, rich with fungus, rich in wanton.. yummy.. must try
Glutinous Fruits for dessert.. we taste better,,,
overall verdict, 4 out of 5
