Tonkichi - Orchard Central, SG - 15th Aug 2009
It is a sad day today, as one our close HK friend is leaving us to HK tomorrow... thinking of a place that she had not been before... we decided to have a small gathering in one of Tonkichi branch located in one of Singapore latest mall, that is right .... none other than Orchard Central...
This new mall still has many shops that are still under renovation, so you will only see some big Jap restaurant over here and there...
Tonkichi is located on the 7th level, it is very easy to spot it.... here is the entrance below :)

Tonkichi are good with their Katsu and sashimi, and later we will order one plate of maki to see how it taste like...
my wife ordered Tonkichi Ramen Hire/Age set,,, it consist of a a little Yasai and char-siu with rich pork stock, a bowl of 2 pcs Agedashi Tofu, and a Fried Hire....
Ramen is bouncy and QQ, its stock are not that salty, if you are to eat with the char-siu, it really will bring out the best flavour... the only set back is that dont expect it will fill up your stomach, as the portion are not really that filling....
Agedashi tofu texture is good ,,,, its crispy skin crispiness just perfect, but remember dont let soak in the sauce too long, as it will caused the crispy skin to non-crispiness... :)
as for this Hire... its pork meat are not lean and non fat... if dip with its mustard provided... it taste just the taste you want... but of course, not many people will like mustard taste compare to wasabi...
Becky ordered a Tonkichi Kaki and Hire set.. well... i didnt really ask her how it taste like.. but with Tonkichi standard,, it will not be that bad.... base on my experience.. the pork are lean and not fat, and its oyster are fresh, if you are to dip with the salad sauce provided... i think you will love it very much.. arr.. one more,, salad vege are free flow... so for those who are on healthy diet.. this is a good set to order...
Me, Irene and Olive are ordering this wonderful Uni Chirashi Set.. this is the first time i have seen this in this form...
wa.. la.... transform... once u open up, it has 2 level of serving...
1st level, fresh sashimi is tempting for those who like raw fish... fresh, crunchy, and once you put in your mouth, you can really hear the sound of the sea,,, (no la.. just joking... my imagination is carrying me away)... :P
Sea Urchin is fresh and it doesn has the foul smell compare to some restaurant, this is one that i strongly recommended.. creamy on its meat, with a little dip on soya sauce.. hmmm.. this is heaven ...

its outlook are good.. nice colour
but.. skin is rather hard and dry.. but again,,, its salmon in it are fully cook and taste good with its mayo and roe on it....
