Formerly Pasta Cafe, Now Domani Cafe

Formerly Pasta Cafe, Now Domani Cafe

文章日期:12/09/2012 10:39 am
It is our wedding anniversary. I would like to take this opportunity to tell my wife, well.... I did said it to my wife every now and then, but I will said again...
Dear Lopo, thank you for having me as your lokung, it is really my luck for having a great wife, and thank you for taking care of me as you always use me as your guinea pig and have the great honour to taste all your master-piece. I know sometimes I do throw temper, but you still able to tolerate my nonsense. Thank you.

Now. back to the cafe... this place used to be known as Pasta Cafe, it has changed its name since last year, and it is now known as Domani Cafe. Its layout still the same, but the only diff is that the management has changes it style.. do check this website for comparison

The theme seems to be more cosy then before, and with all the woody theme, it is definitely more westernised

table set up are neat

and menu is colourful and attractive

My wifey ordered a Petit Platter, very unique, and we cant wait to dunk in, green tea spaghetti is a little too creamy, but with this portion, the creamy texture will taste just right.  Garlic bread is a little too hard, so be careful when u eat it as it will hurt your gums.  As for my verdict,,,, 70%

Ad for me, I ordered a Baked Penne Pork, it pork chop is really up to its standard as the management are really known for its pork tenderness and juiciness.. Do be careful and eat it slowly, as it is damn hot.. you dont want to hurt yourself.. u know what i mean, verdict, 80%

here comes the last part, DESSERT,, how can we miss this... Passion cake.. I think my wifey mousse cake is better..
but nontheless, it is still not that bad...
so overall verdict for this cafe 90%... great food, good place for chatting, and good place for gossiping and resting...

Yum Cha lunch in Ah Yat - UE Square

Yum Cha lunch in Ah Yat - UE Square

I hardly had one off day that I need not go back to office. But I am really happy that my wifey also take one off day, so that we can do things together ..
Today is really a great day, and we are not deterred by that stupid haze...
We went deliver chocolate mousse cake (specially prepared by you know who) to one of my home seller..
Then we proceed to Yum Cha in UE Square, and then we went to Phoon Huat to purchase ingredients for her experiment and then we went to Fairprice Xtra to buy some fruits for tonite...

Well.. now.. lets move to DIM SUM.... yummy isnt it.

We have always wanted to try out this place, as it is 50% off from their menu price just for week days lunch.
And over there we meet one of our "old friend" a manager who used to work in East Ocean and Victoria Peak restaurant.
we chat a while.. and lets order food..

1st we had this vegetarian duck meat. Looks not pretty on the outside, after we first bite it. Wow... OK wor...  not so dry and not so wet.. too bad YY couple is not with us today

2nd, here comes our scallop prawn har kao...  this you got to try, good scallop, good prawn with bouncy bouncy in your mouth, and the soft translucent dumpling skin is really good

I cant remember this name... but I will suggest that you order a bowl of rice, and it will defintely has that perfect match, perfect taste, and perfect feel.. but to high level yet :P

Char siew bao is our next on line... this is one good bao i have ate so far, really have to eat when it is hot

not fatty meat, but yet soft and tender, bun dont really stick onto your teeth.. this is what a call good bun.. (not great yet.. hahahaha)

Now here is the heavy stuff... Lotus leaf "lor mai gai"...

we give up as it is really too heavy for us... glutinous rice is too gluey, and I dont quite like it... but it will definitely taste good when a person is really starving.. should be :)

This is one dessert my wifey really likes it... egg tart pastry...  good and can compete with east ocean.. u have to try

when we ask for our bill, suddenly this comes to our table... this is free la... specially from the manager, and we feel so embarrassed as everyeye from every table is looking at us... and I believe they are wondering if they have this too after their meal...
anyway.. who cares.. lets eat..

verdict.. after 50% and all the plus plus plus... only S$29.19 ..
this is too good to be true.. good food and vallue for money...
you too have to try...

enjoy...

Dulcet n Studio - Liang Court

Recently we spotted this new "cafe" in Liang Court - Dulcet n Studio, it looks like another Japanese Western fusion cafe.
Its setup looks pretty cosy, and further more it is very near to my and my wifey office. And we look at each other, lets check it out...
in order to save all the plus plus plus fee.. everything need to be self service..
which means, you do your own ordering and you clear the table

1st page menu.. looks kind of nice

but choice quite limited

looks very cosy.. and I would suggest, if u need a place for a nice chat.. this might be the place for you

we ordered something with $3 dollar upgrade to either soup+bread or salad.. so we take both :)

wifey ordered this Black ink pasta

me ordered this beef spare rib stew pasta
verdict:
all the food taste great, tasty yet not compromise.
as for the stew part.. i think they should serve rice instead of pasta

I have yet to try their dessert and cakes..
will do it the next time

cheers

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our GM for giving us a nice treat.  This once a while gathering can really do us good like get to know each other more, joke casually outside the office, and talk as loud as we can.

I have never been to this Yan Palace, and it doesnt occurs to me that there is this restaurant just right at the corner near to our office.

When you look at the exterior, it sure looks old and not attractive at all..
Well, who cares :) since GM is blanjaing us...

We are sitting down waiting for our mama-san, lets check what we have to order, Stella and Dareen are screening the menu

here comes our GM.. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING.....

For a start, chillies and pickles sure really make a good go..

The surrounding looks very old, but funny thing is, its ceiling Chandalier looks so grand.

Mama-san is now here

Lets take some candid shots..

This you guys really need to try... looks like a normal yam ball

just check this out.. Yam wrap around lychee and wrap around a yolk..
when you first bites it, first you will taste the crispy skin with a little slight saltiness on the outside...
follow by the sweetness of lychee.. wow,, the combine flavour sweep through your mouth sure makes you want to have a few more.. GOOD!!!

This roast pork also not bad la... still can eat.. eat one piece can liao..

This char-siew not that bad after all.. but just a little fatty though.. colouring is not over do it.. but I still can have a few more.. as they are my favourite.

Larva custard bun.. it comes a little too early, but if they can have a smaller version will be great.. i will leave it to the end as this is the dessert dish..
Just dont understand y the dessert comes in during all the eating, it should be the last part

this is another special dish that you really must try, full a prawn meat wrapping around mango meat and deep fried it with almond flakes..
this is must try stuff.. what it taste like.. i will leave it to you to judge

now the larva custard bun, not that sweet , not that salty, and yet after 30 mins of cooling down and still so "liquid"
too bad i can take more than one.. too many 3 High liao

I really must organise one big gathering for all HK friends...
please wait for my email
