My MIL and SIL has touched down Singapore last evening (saturday).. and coincidentally it is a 冬至 on Sunday... HKers will usually celebrate this speical day, as it is a some sort of family gathering .. to make it memorable for them, we have book this Yanqing's Secret which is open by Miss Yan Qing (used to be news anchor for the Mediacorp and U channel).. a modernised Shanghainese eat out.. which i think they will like it...

Interior decor has a combination of old and new, a little dark but cosy....

they even have 2 private rooms if you have around 10 people...

table setting are a little normal, but that is not the main point... the services provided are quite ok, but i think they are a little understaff that day.. the waiter are polite in everything they do, they will keep on asking "do u want some more soup", they will fill up your cup when they see it is half full..

Menu is fill with colourful dishes, and it is really what you see is what you get...

some tit bits for you while you are browsing the menu and while waiting for the food too

We didnt really order much food as it is only 4 of us, so this is what we have ordered
we ordered a Yellow fish soup pot, this is one of our favourites as the soup is rich with unexplainable flavour.. guess what, each one of us has consume a total of 4 small bowl,, this shows that this soup pot is a must try stuff

you can really tell the soup base is really a masterpiece, no cream added, tasty as it has been boiled for several hours, not too salty,

Stir fried venison with fungi is also our favourite, meat is tender, juicy. Fungi are soft and crunchy...
as for the gravy sauce, it goes well with rice.. good choice

Spinach with stir fried with chicken stock is alsy my wife favourites as she can really tell the gravy base are not using the canned chicken soup... Spinach are fresh and crunchy... and vege is also good for your digestive system too...

as for Wasabi Mayo Prawn Ball with avocado cubes, this is not our best favourite.. mayo are too much, and the wasabi doesnt blend well with the dish too.. this is not really a shanghainese delicacy.. it is more of a western fusion... but if really want to try something new... you would like to try this

Spicy Garlic pork ribs -please dont try... u will regret
