Modesto's Vivo -SG, 15th March 2008

文章日期:03/16/2008 03:23 pm

Once again, this is not the first time we are here at Modesto's, because we felt that we did not had a nice pizza last week at Swensen's, and today she has the urge to eat Pizza.
We take our slow stroll in Vivocity until 12 noon, and I must say, it is still a very nice place, cosy, and we were escorted to a "window" view seat..
We ordered a 2 set of Executive lunch which is of course they are different, as we do not want to order the same set...
1st set will be the salad as Appetiser, Pasta as Main Course, Ice cream the desert. As for the 2nd set, Soup as Appetiser, large pizza as Main course, Ice Cream again for the desert
This is the only place that we can finished all our food, unlike some Italian resturant, their food is fatty and probably you cant even finish half of the food,,

You can spot the place very easily, as the signage is big and lighted up, there is no way you are going to miss it...

It is still very quiet by 12.10 pm.. but by the time we finished our food.. the place is not even half full... but I like it :P

Here is the ala-carte menu.. there many you can choose, but if you really have some problem with the varieties, try their Executive lunch,,, which only cost you S$18.80

Wow.. here is their Executive Set lunch, and we ordered all the different set

and before they serve us the real food, here comes the starter, Focaccia with extra virgin olive oil dressing.. tender, soft, and delicious .. yummy

Insalata Contadina - Assorted fresh greens, sun dried tomatoes, black kalamata olives, and shaved parmesan cheese, served with a lemon and extra virgin oil dressing, this are all spelt out in the menu.. the vege are fresh, dried tomatoes are juicy, and its really enhance your appetite

Zuppetta Di Vongole - Fresh Clam soup with Dried Tomato.  My wife's loves it very much, as it has its rich tomatoes aroma in it, and pack with enough clam in it too... nice!

Vendure Pizza, with Tomatoe, cheese and assorted vege (grilled egg plant, zucchini, capsicum and mushroom).. crust are thin and easily consume, cheese topping are full of flavor and not fat.. i think you should try this and not pizza hut

Rigatoni ALL' Amatriciana, Large Tube Pasta, this you have to eat while it is still hot,,, we eat this dish later and found out that the tube is hardened when it is cool down,, so next time, eat it while they are immeidately served...

I Nostri Gelati, Italian icerean served with fresh cream, strawberries, blue berries and butter cookies, and of course u have a choice of 3 flavour which is the choc, strawberry, vanilla, you know what,, we choose chocolate :P our favourites la.....
GOOD!!!!
to give a rating..  many stars

After having a "big" meal at Swensen, we decided to take a nice stroll of the whole complex, and we accidentally spotted a Haagen Dazs Ice Cream Palour on the 3rd level. To eat it now? Not really, as the food inside us is up to our neck.. so I told my wife lets us stroll for half an hour and come back here later... :P
.............. half hour later....
We went into this palour now.. very quiet, and only the two of us

You can see how quiet it is, one thing bad about this palour is that they are not as attentive as the one in Raffles City..

Still quiet, so it is time for us to browse their menu

Coffee promotion

Ice Cream Menu.. yummy,,,

And this is the close up of the 2nd page of the menu

Macadamia Nut Crunch, this is the worst crunch we have ate,, Ice cream is ok.. it is alway Haagen Daz standard, but the biscuit...jeeez... it is not crunchy at all,, as though it has been  left out in the open for a certain period of time.. so next time whether you are in HK or Singapore.. if you are ordering anything with biscuit, make sure u ask for fresh biscuit

here is where we have tried

Last Saturday, on the 8th, me and wife were toying around some ideas on should we go this time to explore for our lunch... no doubt Singapore is a very small country, making up ones mind to where to eat is a big challange, as we all knew that this country has tons of place to eat, but picking the right one is actually not easy at all...
We manage to find a website that shows all the shopping mall in Singapore.. and this place sound interesting - Junction 8... This is place is new to my wife but not to me, but I have not been to this place when it was erected 20 years ago...
We went there yesterday, and manage to find the information counter, and browse through all the directory on every floor, and finally we spotted where we want to go, that is.. TADA!!! Swensen's.
Swensen's has come a long way since my working days, from a ice cream palour to a cafe palour and then transformed into a restaurant...
Not only do they still serve their own made ice cream, they serve coffee, pizza and even spaghetti..so there will be a mixture of the US and the Europe.

The entrance is a located at a very tiny little corner, luckily the sign board is big, otherwise you will never find this place... (please take note that this is not the only place that Swensen's is here, they have several branches in Singapore too)

The counter is a little quiet, what I can say is, they are under staff, so you have to be patience with their services...

Not that cosy after all, but the environement are more towards family, so if you are thinking of spending a romantic nite here.. please think twice

Table setting is nothing unique, but it does comes with basic needs, the ketchup, chilli sauce, pepper, etc

Breakfast choice

Ice cream choice of the day

this is what i like best, Colour and big menu with pictures.. at least you will able to see what you are ordering..  good choice

Retro ceiling lights of the past USA.. cool

here we order our usual starter, Caesar Salad, they were serve in a very unique bowl, vege is fresh so are the toppings, and this is one the freshest salad we have ever taste so far.. good to try

My wife did not expect me to order this Calamari Rings, when she first put the rings in her mouth, she really likes it very much, and it comes with tartar sauce for you to dip too.. nice!!!

Nothing fantastic on this Beef Bakes Rice, but nonetheless it is not that bad too.... if your body are heaty.. never never try this

The All Vege Pizza is nice to look on the outside, and bad on the inside... this is the worst pizza that we have ever taste, and we prefer Modesto...

Well, it is not that expensive coming to this place to have a decent lunch, and it cost only S$ 40. If you ask how do i rate this place, i will give a 7/10 .. but it is still a nice hangout for family and a bunch of frens... here is the details below:

California Dining - TW, 2008

California Dining - TW

文章日期:02/26/2008 09:32 am
This is another restuarant that we have visited when we were in TW during our Chinese New Year Holiday.. I really cant remember its name, but we only knew it is a California dining place (as the sign board is big), and it located in a Sincere Dept Store next to Nanjing East MRT station.
We spotted this place when we are shopping in the dept store, and out of a sudden our stomach start to growl for food.. so we approach the menu stand to see what they have, price are reasonable, selection is of wide range.. and guess what... we move in..
It has a "tunnel" that brings you into other restaurant as though you are on your way to a portal.. I think it is.. remember what I have mentioned, it is a deparmental store.. so this tunnel is bringing you into a restaurant.. nice setting.. the decor is kind of a European setting rather than California

The menu is colourful, and whatever you see on it, you can actuall upsize to any set you..
you can choose your own soup, your own salad, and your own drink... and no fix set meal.. cool!

nice table setting.. but the only setback is that it is not as cosy as you look at it..
but it is quite ok though...

Tea serving..

And this sunshine plate is sitting there on the table waiting for you to eat with them

ahhh.. forget to mention.. they serve different bread to you too...:P

my wife choose the mushroom chowder soup and as for me, tomato cream soup as below

To tell you the truth, I cant remember the name on every dish for this one...
but all I can tell you.. they are not too bad after all.. value for money, nice presentation.
a few set back is that they are under manpower, dim light and noisy..:(
