It has been quite a while since my last blog...
Recently, a good friend of mine has given me a tips on where to get good salmon at direct wholesale price from factory...
He gave me the address, far north of Singapore.... situated at this place 46 Woodland Terrace..
when we reach there, (and since it is our first time),you will need to put on a winter jacket, as you need to walk into the cold room to do your selection...
when we went in, and to our surprise, there were tonnes of choices to choose from... salmon, tuna, unagi, dory, scallop, crap meat, seafood soup and many many more.... too bad we did not bring our camera along to capture all this shots.. but you can catch it on this website http://www.fassler.info/photo_gallery.htm
now.. i think everyone will want to know what is our catch today...
here u go...
our first catch.. Dory Fillet (5 pcs), 1.144kg, $10.87 ...

Abalone Slice, $6.00

Salmon Burgers (2 pcs), 200g, $2.20

Tuna Burgers (2 pcs), 200g, $ 2.20

Tuna Tataki, $8.77

Smoked Salmon with Fresh Herbs, 200g, $9.90

Now the great part... the soup, there are around 10 different varieties of soup.. i gues...
but here we only catch four.. you dont get to see this in super market... so we grab this when we see this.. per packet is good for 3 pax.. and price is quite reasonable

first, Tomato Cream Soup, $3.00

2nd, Clam Chowder, $3.00

Italian Minestrone Soup, $3.00

Lobster Cream Soup, $5.00

and our total catch for today is $55.74...

My Bowl Collection #1 - Japanese Yurikinsai technique Bowl

My Bowl Collection #1 - Japanese Yurikinsai technique Bowl

文章日期:11/26/2009 04:39 pm
Here are some of my collection that I have kept in my closet since 2008.. the passion on this new hobby started when I pound onto one Japanese article on "Yurikinsai" technique bowl.. and to my surprise, the number of master that can product this art are less then 10... I find it very unique and rare, so collecting them is my next move...
So.. what is "Yurikinsai"?
Yurikinsai "釉裏金彩"is a technique that involve a low temperature glaze of the same colour as the high-fired glaze is applied to the surface of the vessel and fired on in a further firing. Gold leaf is then applied and covered with another layer of glaze so that it is effectively sandwiched between two layers of glaze. Although this adds to the durability of the gold decoration, it is a highly specialized technique that requires much care to ensure that the gold leaf doesn't roll up or melt into the glaze during firing.
All the collection that you see below are from master Akihiro Furugaki - he is one master that mastered this technique himself and not by sucsession.. and with his unique technique, he really has inspired the whole ceramics field..
Frist Collection:
"Yaezakura" (12/2008) - limited edition.
During the month of April, There are numerous variations on the Japanese cherry blossom, all possessing their own unique beauty. For example, most of the wild trees are known for having 5 petals, but there are some that can reach up to 100 – these are called "Yaezakura".
Because a tree’s blooming period is so short, the Japanese have given a name to the act of blossom-viewing: hanami. After the flowers on the Japanese cherry blossom begin to peak out, it will reach full bloom within a week. After another week, most of the flowers will have fallen to the ground.

2nd Collection
"Flower of the Seasons" - (04/2008) - Limited Edition

3rd Collection:
"Whispering Spring" (04/2008) - Limited edition

4th Collection:
"Natsu Chawan - Yake" (08/2009) - limited edition
This matcha bowl is designed especially to enjoy matcha in the summer season. In order to create the cool atmosphere, this bowl is designed more flatly than a usual matcha bowl. Therefore, though designs are usually on the side of a typical matcha bowl, Mr. Furugaki has created designs on the inside of this matcha bowl. It is one of the special features of this item.
This special bowl features Bamboo, which symbolizes congratulations and best wishes. In Japan , bamboo symbolizes patience as bamboo is so flexible, and feel integrity. The drawing pattern cools your mind in summer too.

5th Collection:
"Natsu Chawan - Ajisai" (08/2009) - limited edition
This matcha bowl is also another design especially for the summer season.
This special bowl features Hydrangea, a beautiful summer flower which symbolizes the welfare and prosperity of family because hydrangea bears many blossoms.
